The Brain, The Mind, The Consciousness Studied and Shared by Neurologist Steven and Yogic Sadhguru.

The brain is the physical part of your body. The brain is an organ located in the head that serves as the center of the nervous systems in every living things.

The mind is made up of the conscious and subconscious memories and data that we have accumulated overtime.  Intellect is made up of data collected overtime. Memories is a boundary we have set.  Free of memories allow free possibilities.  No memories or chitta is believed to be the ultimate level of the mind that we can achieve.

Consciousness is loosely defined as wakefulness, and yet consciousness is much more than that.  Everything in this planet has consciousness.  Once we die, our mind returns to consciousness.

The Brain

The brain is one of the most complex organ in the body.  In human being, the brain consists of cerebral cortex that contains about 14-16 billions of neurons.  Each neuron is connected by synapses to several thousands of other neurons.  Physiologically, the brain exert control over the other parts of the body.  Or is it true?

The Mind

The mind is believed to be the intelligence in todays modern world.  However, the mind is really more than that.  Let us discover the true meaning of the mind, explained by Sadhguru.

In the yogic sciences, there are 4 parts of the mind, Budhi-intellect, Ahankara-identity, Manas- 8 dimensions of the memories and Chitta-no memory/ pure intelligence.

Budhi- intellect, data and memories that we have accumulated consciously and unconsciously overtime.  Intellect is not mind. Intellect is instrument of survival, intellect is data driven

Ahankara- identity or ego, nation, race, religion, the way you identify, the intellect will function to protect the identity.  Intellect will function based on identity they take on. Hence, intellect is the slave of the identity you have taken on. Identities limit us from expanding our knowledge of the world.  Cosmic identity allows one to see the world in different lenses, not limiting the ability to tap unto the cosmic or universal intelligence.

Manas- 8 dimensions of the memories; mainly the elemental memory, atomic memory, evolutional memory, genetic memory, karmic memory, articulate and inarticulate memories, conscious and unconscious memories

Human form is an evolutional memory within us.  Eg, eating dog/cat food will not change you to a dog/cat due to the evolutional memory within us.

Genetic memory is how one’s genes of one’s race or lineage become who we are today.  How we physically look are mainly due to the genetic memories that are being passed down by our ancestors and forefathers.

Chitta or pure intelligence is also believed to be space, nothingness, no memories, where it is not affected by any memories.  This is also known as pure intelligence in the yogic world.  It is free of memories.  Memories is a boundary we have set.  Free of memories allow free possibilities.

The Consciousness

What is actual meaning behind consciousness.  Consciousness is not about wakefulness.  Consciousness comprises more than our conscious, subconscious mind and super conscious mind.  Consciousness is ONE.

Are you waking up to the real meaning of live?  Are you looking at consciousness in the true meaning behind it? How do we access chitta and consciousness?

Letting ego of all the memories and boundaries that make us who we are today. Let no boundaries define us as when you define me, you negate me.

Learning and re-seeking who we are. Do this through your exploration within us, through meditation.
