Certification in hypnotherapy is a desired outcome for many hypnotherapy students and practitioners. There are no state or government certification agencies for hypnotherapy. Certification is not a legal requirement in order to practice.
Certification is strictly a voluntary process that many Hypnotherapists seek to establish. These certifications are usually an aura of confidence in their credentials. There are also local hypnosis association that hypnotherapist can join to get information or support from the local group. This is however, also optional for the hypnotherapist.
There are many certification agencies to choose from locally and internationally. Many certification groups have official sounding names that would lead you to believe they are government agencies. They are not.
