Breathing with intentions is a powerful yet simple spiritual way for us to connect our breath with our body, mind and soul. Our breath is our soul of life in our body. We can use this godsend tools in our life to create a beautiful, happy and healthy life for us.

Breathing has become automatic for so many of us, that we sometimes do not realized how powerful our breath is. Breathing is simple for many of us. We do not even take note of our breath until something adverse happens. So, instead of waiting for that, let us take this opportunity to use this breath work to help us improve our health and well being.

Inhalation

Notice our breath, the inhalation and the expansion of our chest, the diaphragm contracts and moves downward, while the intercostal muscles between the ribs contract and pull the rib cage upward and outward. This combined action increases the volume of the chest cavity, creating a pressure difference that draws air into the lungs. The lungs, being elastic, expand to fill the increased volume of the chest cavity, allowing for the intake of air. 

Exhalation

The exhalation or the relaxation of our chest, the diaphragm relaxes and moves upward, while the intercostal muscles relax, allowing the rib cage to move downward and inward. These muscle relaxations decrease the volume of the chest cavity, increasing the air pressure inside the lungs, which forces air out. 

Breathing with Intentions

Let us use our inhalation and exhalation of our breathing with intentions. Focus on your intentions, in bringing in what you want or need in each inhalation and focus on your intentions, in breathing out what your body do not need in each exhalation.
